The year 2014 saw a number of events in the video game industry. No new major consoles were released, but updates and upgrades were: the New Nintendo 3DS was released in Japan and Oceania, and Sony released new model 2000 PS Vita systems in Europe & North America. In video game-related corporate acquisitions, Amazon purchased the online video game streaming service Twitch, and Facebook acquired the virtual reality company and product Oculus. Nintendo released Amiibo in 2014, companion figurines that could be scanned by the 3DS and WiiU systems. On Twitter and other Internet social media, the Gamergate controversy began.

The following were 2014's top ten highest-grossing video games in terms of worldwide revenue (including physical sales, digital purchases, subscriptions, microtransactions, free-to-play and pay-to-play) across all platforms (including mobile, personal computer, and console platforms).

Anyone who had pre-purchased the game and received all the bonus content (which Humble Bundle purchasers do not receive) can easily purchase the bundle for a very low price if they feel cheated (but they shouldn't).

Thank you for making that excellent point, Dandy. Looking at the bundle page and my own purchase receipt, I think a lot of people are also "taking advantage" of the bundle to pay above the asking price, all for the sake of supporting some of our favorite Indie games developers.

Besides, in all game purchases--pre-sale, day of or off the clearance racks--we always pay what want. If only I could employ that same tactic with my internet provider, phone service, electric company, and so on...

Hi, Jonathan. Congrats on beating the game! :) Currently, there are 123 creature cards in total. My guess is that the missing Steam achievement is for having collected all the cards, but I couldn't say for sure since I purchased my version off the indie bundle.

Humble Bundle is the first and best-known group to sell pay-what-you-want indie game bundles. Most of their bundles allow the purchaser to decide how their price is split between game developers, charities, and the bundle itself. Most games in the bundles are available on Steam, and for a while Desura keys were included as well. Games are almost always available DRM-free for Windows, Mac, Linux, and sometimes Android. More recent bundles have introduced a minimum price for Steam keys due to abuse of people paying one cent to create new non-free Steam accounts to collect extra prizes during promotions.

After the Humble Bundle with Android 5 ended (March 19, 2013), Humble Bundle offered its first Humble Weekly Sale. These promotions followed the pay-what-you-want approach, with new bundles released every Tuesday. Similar to the regular bundles, a Steam key was only provided for purchases $1 or more, with DRM free files provided (when available) for payments below the $1 threshold. Beating an average price often added additional items. After the Humble Weekly Bundle: Zen Studios 3 ended (March 2016) the weekly bundles went on an indefinite hiatus and have not returned.

In October 2015 Humble Bundle announced a new monthly bundle which would start in November 2015, called the Humble Monthly bundle. This bundle featured a selection of Steam games every month for a set price, with 5% of net Humble Monthly bundle proceeds going to charity. Each bundle could only be ordered before release, with the contents hidden until after release (at which time the bundle was no longer available to purchase). In October 2019 Humble Bundle stated they would be discontinuing the Humble Monthly bundles and replacing them with a new service called Humble Choice, which would come into effect at the end of the year, with the Humble December 2019 Monthly being the final monthly bundle.

Humble Bundle started out offering a single Steam key that would activate all bundle games together, which was available for all purchasers. Purchasers beating the average price would receive a different or additional key to provide the games that were only available to purchasers beating the average. After The Humble Indie Bundle 4, Steam keys were only provided to purchasers paying at least $1, and after The Humble Indie Bundle 6 Steam keys went from a couple bundled keys to individual keys for each game, though The Humble Indie Bundle 8 returned to bundled keys.

Humble Bundle added the option of making an account, which allows purchasers to organize all of their Humble Bundle purchases under a single login instead of keeping track of a separate e-mail message with a link for each bundle. If you have Humble Bundle purchase that were made with the same e-mail address, creating an account with that address allows you to sync your previously purchased bundles to your account.
